ARTIST STATEMENT

Most often I find it very difficult to convey what my work is truly about because it changes like the Oklahoma wind. As an artist, I use metal and vitreous enamel to communicate my thoughts, experiences, and ideals. Working primarily in three-dimensional objects, I create sculpture, wall hangings and installations of enameled butterflies. I develop work that is meaningful to me. The pieces I create become like shrines to my past helping me deal with issues, that if spoken of are sometimes too painful or leave me feeling too vulnerable. My work marks good and bad moments in my life … silently imparting the anecdotes of trophies and scars in my life.
